We accept several major insurance plans and are here to walk you through verification and eligibility every step of the way. Copays and deductibles may still apply depending on your plan. We are not currently able to accept HMO plans at this time. If your plan falls into that category, our team is happy to connect you with other trusted providers in the community and help you find the care you need.

We provide professional and compassionate lactation support to new mothers navigating breastfeeding. Every consultant on our team is dedicated to individualized solutions for your specific concerns, guiding you through each step of your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Lactation Network? The Lactation Network works with insurance providers to deliver in-home, in-office, or telehealth consultations. We currently use The Lactation Network only to verify BCBS of Texas plans. It bridges the gap between private practice IBCLCs and families who need lactation support. A denial from The Lactation Network does not automatically mean your plan doesn't cover lactation care, it simply means we weren't able to verify it through that channel. If this happens, we'll share our self-pay rates and offer you a superbill. We do accept HSA and FSA cards.

How is the insurance process handled with The Breast Choice Lactation Services LLC? We are in-network with United Healthcare (UHC), Cigna, Aetna, and Multiplan.

Our Insurance Process:

Verification. We check whether your policy covers lactation services, confirming coverage, limitations, and any deductible or copay requirements.
Claim submission. We submit your claim, track its progress, and follow up on any issues that arise (see our Payment Policy for details). If the insurance company does not remit payment after our attempts to collect the billed amount, you will be responsible for the difference or the full amount.

Do you have an office? Yes. We're located in DeSoto and see clients in person on Mondays. On Fridays, we work out of the Fort Worth Birth and Wellness Center / Midwife & Co, offering one-hour sessions, you do not have to be a Ft. Worth Birth Center client to be supported there.

What if I do not have insurance? No problem. We accept HSA, FSA, and credit card payments for families without insurance coverage, and we can provide a superbill upon request. Self-pay packages are also available.

What areas does The Breast Choice cover for home visits? We offer home visits on Thursdays only, within a 25-mile radius of DeSoto, TX, serving Dallas, Ellis, and Tarrant Counties. A convenience fee applies to all home visits; see our lactation services section for rate details. If you live more than 35 miles from DeSoto, we'll offer a virtual visit along with a list of other wonderful lactation consultants in your area.

My insurance company told me lactation visits are covered. We encourage you to learn more about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and call your insurance company directly to ask about your specific plan benefits, since coverage varies by plan.
